EvaluationQ7: looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product.

The purpose of the prelminary task was to familarise me and my group with camera, tripod  and editing. It also helped us to learn ow to use final cut as we had to edit the sequence we had filmed. This helped our groupto understand how to operate the camera and frames shots by trying to use cinematography. It also allowed us to identify group roles , for example in my group, everyone had a go of filming and,we and we then nominated one person to do each thing, for example, filming ,editing and acting.

Where my technical ability has improved :

Filming- has  helped me understand the use of camera amd the capturing moments within the frames. This allowed me to get a better understanding of the differnt type of shots , for example i have lerant how to capture different sizes  such as medium shots within my thriller.

Filming- As first i struggled with using the tripod by trying to put the camera in place , but now i,m able to use the tripod as now I know how to capture the shots as the tripod allows me to create cinematography such as panning shot well as capturing conventinaol shots such as close ups, i can now use over the shoulder shots effectively to make my thriller look more professional.

Editing - I have progressed from intial preminarly task in my ability to edit. When i first tried to edit , I struggled with cutting the shots within the actual shots and placing my selected shots together. Now I know how to place transitions into my thriller making the edits interesting and conventional compared to just using straight cuts. For example , my group and I added a fade to black to make my thriller looks more conventional to the genre.

Editing-The last technique i have been able to develop and use  to edit the film and clips in order  to make them flow and  be more understandable for the audience.I admit that editing came with  a bit of problems and complication ,however these problems didn't hold me back from trying my best to learn how to edit with hard work and practice.

                      Development from preliminary task

A storyboard  was created in order  for me  to know  to plan my film , and I realised the importance of this once i did my preliminary task. Before I could start filming I also had to create pre-production paperwork such as a location release, a client release form, location recce form, production schedule and a risk assessment sheet to ensure the safety of my production.

These documents were so that we were able to film and covered my group for legal risks. This research that was carried out it was essential in creating a successful thriller. All the research was key into helping my group understand elements of what a thriller was and of its conventions.

  1. Benji, a proficient understanding of your development from the preliminary to the full task. Examples of improvement in filming and editing has been discussed and you also show what planning steps you took after your preliminary to ensure that the full product would be a success. Good use of ICT/images here to support your ideas.
