Typography
Typography is a way of arranging and presenting text through the size, design and colour to the audience. The typography give the audience an idea indication of what the film is about. It is essential information that connect with the audience so they know more about the production.
On the opening of 'Scream' the audience sees the title in white this makes the audience feel calm as the colour white connate purity and pure this allows the audience to feel in certain way that their wont be no danger, the title is written in plain white, then on the background the audience sees the red flicking out over taking the white colour , the colour red connate danger, anger, blood. As soon as the title appears red the audience gets confuse as in the start the colour was white this creates different meaning for the audience. The size of the font is the same this is highlighting the actual title is written' Scream' its nice and loud for the audience to understand.
In my own thriller opening screen I will use plain fonts to make the audience feel relax and calm and after that title will have a flashing effect to confuse them when watching the opening, the reason why I will use that is to create suspense and tension for the audience.
Overall what I learnt about typography is that title of films is essential to connect with the audience when wanting to see a film, it allowed me to understand why particular title used in different genres and how the style of thriller is different to action fonts. how typography is conventional in thriller genre.
